In that case the tech writer has no choice but to write verbiage like the var osc example. I think it's great if the tech writer really digs in and asks himself the what/when/why type questions, putting himself in the user's shoes. Then he can ask intelligent questions for writing the manual.

BTW, it bugs mean when people misused the word utilize. Utilize means to use something in an unusual or clever way. Its plates resonated with tones to *interrupt* current. It reproduced "musical tones" only. This was referred to as a "telephone" but no speech was reproduced. The apparatus was built during the telephone patent trials years later to demonstrate this as well.JChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13855386678647041020noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7520310366597866036.post-68604279223994728252019-11-19T21:24:11.324-08:002019-11-19T21:24:11.324-08:00I'm not sure if I romanticize the past or if I...I'm not sure if I romanticize the past or if I lived in a Democrat bubble, but it seemed like when people disagreed they still generally accepted the same news sources as authoritative and accepted that most people are not evil.

In my town the centrist paper (WI State Journal) came in the morning and the more liberal paper (Cap City Times) came in the evening. It feels like they're disappearing. The largest bill is worth only a few hours of the average person's labor. A modest amount of money to pay for my family's needs for a few weeks is almost unwieldy, even in all c-notes. Many people, esp under 40 y/o, hardly use cash at all. I think this makes them sloppy, not aware of the value they're trading. Money is one abstraction and numbers on a screen that represent money are an abstraction on abstraction. The mind just isn't well adapted to deal with it.

This makes me wonder if physical money is here to stay and if it's not if electronic money *will extract an unseen cost due to trading parts being less keenly aware of how much value they're parting with or getting*. This story could easily be at Willy Co-Op with Colectivo (from WI) and Equal Exchange (from MN). I have not been to Austin, but so many people go there. I can think of several people I knew as a kid in Madison who moved there permanently or were there for a while. This book showed me why.

It also introduced me to the Havard Implicit Bias test. I had some bias against people with darker skin. My son, who is 10, took it and had no bias.

It doesn't stop people from moralizing about how people's racism is evil or from moralizing, even more stupidly IMHO, that it's wrong to admit there's racism and to want to reduce it. It gives a glaring example subconscious racism that's hard to face.

I have heard Thinking Fast and Slow covers the same topic in a more scientific way, but I couldn't get through that book because I had already heard a lot of it from Blink. In my experience workers are bad at articulating the value of benefits (housing allowance, insurance, etc), but in practice they're good at weighing the cash value of benefits when considering jobs.
2. The what they should make seems silly to me because the economy only has so many goods and services at any one time. It grows slowly. You can't simply wish everyone earned about twice as much as they do; the goods and services they would buy do not exist. Forgoing consumption in favor of making more means of production can make everyone earn more in the long term.
3. Communications technology allows the one best producer, teacher, business, manager, etc, to share her knowledge over long distances; which means top producers earn more. It's more income inequality, but it's a "good" income inequality if it's just top producers earning more with other people still able to earn by selling their labor and investing some of it in the technologies top producers create and use.CJhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05824987036580158137noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7520310366597866036.post-67895290358905698622018-09-04T15:25:02.634-07:002018-09-04T15:25:02.634-07:00I had Dr. Denslow for Macro in the spring of '...I had Dr. Denslow for Macro in the spring of '94.
