As the film shows Dorothy only ran away five minutes before she ran back home again. The conflict between Gulch had not been resolved so surely her return to Kansas would have resulted in the death of Toto? Or was it to find a place of no trouble somewhere over the rainbow? As Dorothy was going out of her way to annoy Gulch by letting Toto run amok surely she brought whatever trouble she was in on herself.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16897232968669821482noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7520310366597866036.post-72368514193425682322015-05-08T10:27:03.384-07:002015-05-08T10:27:03.384-07:00Maximus the merciful, thank you! (Re:Wizard of Oz).
If you look at it another way, I'm pretty sure she was basically saying that we go searching for things in life that we THINK we want. But in the end, it's family, loved ones, and those who care about us and we care about that matter most. That int he end, all that we really care about is our relationships. So if you go searching for something that you think you desire, and look beyond your own family surroundings, you'll discover your path is homeward. Because all you really, truly, seek in the end is pure joy and happiness. And if you try finding it by leaving those you love, you'll never find it.
That is how I interpretated what Dorothy was saying. It's wisdom we each learn for ourself. But the writers said it more concisely than I ever could. Difficult to say I a few short sentences because there is a world of wisdom in it.brooksidecourthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12574111513159986479noreply@blogger.com
